Volunteer Opportunities Available at SABVI
The following opportunities are available in both Lancaster and Lebanon Counties:
Drivers Needed
Our clients attend support groups and social clubs at our facility where they socialize with other clients while learning new activities or relearning a former one. Drivers are asked to pick up clients throughout Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, often closest to their homes. Drivers are asked to use agency vehicles; however, if they do use their own, they will receive a mileage reimbursement. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older, provide proof of a valid driver's license, possess a clean driving record and fill out a Volunteer Enrollment Form.
Friendly Reader/ Visitors Needed
Volunteers are needed to help on a one-on-one basis with our clients who are blind or vision impaired. Responsibilities include: reading items such as mail, publications or other documents on a bi-weekly or monthly basis at the client's residence. Volunteers must have a compassion for others, plus complete a Volunteer Enrollment Form. A background check is required and volunteers must attend brief orientation session with a social worker.
Kidsight Screening Aides
Our Prevention and Education Specialist screens thousands of preschool aged children throughout Lancaster and Lebanon Counties each year, searching for signs of problems such as, "lazy eye" (amblyopia), crossed eyes or near-or-far-sightedness (need for glasses). Volunteers are needed to help assist the Prevention and Education Specialist during KidSight screenings, primarily with paperwork and record keeping. Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Enrollment Form, a background check and a child abuse clearance

Preschool Aides
Preschool volunteers are needed Monday- Thursday (8:30am -11:15am and 12:15pm- 3:00pm) to help monitor children in SABVI's integrated preschool which caters to the needs of children with and without vision impairments. Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Enrollment Form, a background check and a child abuse clearance.
